True Spirit by Jessica Watson!

'We all have the power to live our dreams no matter how big or small'

Most sixteen year olds only care about how many Facebook friends they have or how many likes they get on their photos, but not Jessica Watson.
Follow the Aussie girl who took on the world on her travels, sailing unaccompanied around the world, by reading her inspiring book True Spirit.

Jessica’s book True Spirit is about how she followed her dream by being the youngest person to sail around the world alone. From the start of her sailing passion to the time when Jessica left Sydney Harbour and set off on her sail around the world, True Spirit is a book that encourages you to follow your dreams.

Jessica became fond of sailing when her mum booked her in for sailing camp when she was little. Ever since, Jessica fell in love with sailing. When Jessica heard about Jesse Martin back then ‘the youngest person to ever sail’ she was inspired and wanted to be like him. She discussed the idea of her sailing around the world with her parents. At first it was a definite “no way”, but after months of research, reading and nagging, Jess finally showed her parents that she was serious. After years of preparation, research and training, Jessica Watson was ready.

One May 15 2010, after 210 days at sea, 24,285 nautical miles, knockdowns, loneliness and day going nowhere 18 year old Jessica Watson sailed her yacht, Ella’s Pink Lady, back to Sydney Harbour. She had become the youngest person to sail solo, unassisted, and nonstop around the world. It almost seemed like the whole country welcomed her home.

True spirit tells how a young girl from Queensland, once afraid of everything, decided to test herself. Jessica’s extraordinary voyage inspires me. We all have the power to live our dreams- no matter how big or small.
