The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne

Think about where you are at the moment. What are you doing? Who are you with ?Can you imagine all of this turning to dust in exchange for an unwelcoming, unknown, dark surrounding? Can you? Well this is the situation Bruno is in during the German holocaust.
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne is a book about young Bruno. As he reluctantly left his friends behind in Berlin, Bruno develops a great feeling of loneliness and isolation within his new and unwelcoming surrounding. Until one day, Bruno took a glance out his window to see some distant people in striped pyjamas. Finally, some friends! He thought. But who are these people? And will Bruno’s family accept his new budding friendship?
Bruno is a character of perseverance, adventure and curiosity. He loves to read thrilling stories about heroes and villains just like any 9 year old boy would.  Bruno has a pale complexion with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. Although at times, Bruno struggles with sustaining his courage, generally he is an inspiring but cute character that will be loved by all!
This book breaks down the barriers of racism and discrimination. It displays the strength of friendship and how it is the silver lining in our lives.
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas should be read by people of ages above 10. It excretes an important message of why we should all be grateful for what we have and why. This book will create a new way of thinking for the children and adults of today.
In my opinion, this book is an exciting, gripping and mysterious adventure into the life of a young boy, stuck between what the world now fears. If you are interested in interesting non-fiction books, then this is clearly the appropriate book that will be your favourite. I found that I could not stop reading! Even though this book displayed to be somewhat sad, it gives the contempory society an insight into the cruel history of how Europe was only half a century ago.

  3. Go Tiarnee! I have read this book before but your book blog makes me want to read it again! Your description about the message and how lucky we are in this modern society impacted me greatly. I love the way you used rhetorical questions to engage the reader at the beginning.
