The Face on the Milk Carton

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be kidnapped?

The Face on the Milk Carton is about, when a young girl, named Janie Johnson, sees herself on a milk carton under the heading 'Missing Child,' her life changes drastically.  Why has she never seen her own birth certificate? Are her parents not really her parents? Is she really Janie Johnson? When she falls in love with her neighbour, Reeve, she tells him everything. Together they put the pieces together of Janie’s past. This is a thrilling series written by Caroline B. Cooney.

When Janie recognizes a picture of herself on the back of a milk carton her life turns upside down. She starts having day-mares from her past.

Janie Johnson is the main character in the book The Face on the Milk Carton. Janie has long, thick and curly red hair. She is described by Cooney as appearing similar to her birth father. Janie seems like a very considerate person especially towards her family, although she is a bit stubborn throughout the book.

This book is set mainly in Connecticut, where she lives. During the book she travels to New Jersey. The time period this book is set in is probably the 1980s because they started printing faces of missing people on milk cartons in 1985. The novel is told in the third person. As the reader reads the story they are guided by Janie's thoughts and actions, although Janie speaks directly to the reader.

If you’re looking for a good mystery series then this is for you. This is a very suspenseful book which keeps you turning pages. The ending of the book wasn’t as good as the rest of the book but I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
