Cherry Crush - Cathy Cassidy

Cherry Crush by Cathy Cassidy

Growing up is hard enough, but with a new stepsister (Honey) who hates you, a brand new house and a brand new school, it’s even harder.

13 year old Cherry Costello had moved to live with her dad’s new girlfriend and her four daughters. When she falls for Honey’s boyfriend, Shay, things go even further south.

Cherry’s mum died when she was just a little girl and her way to cope with this was to make up wonderful and wacky reasons why her mum was not there with her every step of the way.

Kirsty McRae, a nasty girl at Cherry’s heels, was always causing trouble for her and the fact that every teacher considered Cherry to be a liar didn’t help.

When Cherry had finally had enough and dumped macaroni all over Kirsty’s perfectly straightened hair, that’s when Cherry let her teachers know that she was moving to Somerset but of course they thought she was lying.

Arriving at the Tanglewood mansion that she would be staying at for the next couple of years, she met a boy, Shay, who happened to be Honey’s boyfriend. Upon finding this out, Cherry backs off but Shay’s late night visits to her to hear her stories, don’t help this situation.

Cherry is a good-hearted girl who doesn’t want to hurt anyone…unless they deserve it. She is cheeky and all she really wants to do is to fit in.

The message in this book is that nice guys don’t always finish last. This means that Cherry sat back and was herself. She didn’t try to be nasty like the other girls and she ended up living in a great house with her dad, a great new mother-like role model and four step-sisters.

Will Cherry’s new life ever work out?
Will she ever bond with any of her new stepsisters, or will Honey become the new Kirsty McRae?

Read this book to find out. It is an amazing story that takes us on many turns and has a completely unexpected ending. It reels you in and you don’t realise it until you turn the last page and it is the end of the book.
