The Emperor Of Nihon-Ja John Flanagan , Rangers Apprentice series

Would you go on a perilous journey help your best friend?

Will Treaty will set out on a dangerous journey to come to his friend’s aid. Set in the middle ages, The Emperor of Nihon-Ja is the tenth book in the adventurous Rangers Apprentice series which follows Will Treaty's adventures from his life Rangers Apprentice all the way through his ventures as a full graduated Ranger.

Wills best-friend Horace, a knight of the kingdom has been missing for months. Will, Halt, Alyss and Evanlyn set out to discover what has become of their old friend.  They find that he has become tangled up in the rebellion in Nihon -Ja against the rightful emperor.

Will and Horace must find and train men that are willing to face the highly skilled Senshi warriors in a matter of weeks. Will they be able to raise a force to defeat the Senshi in time?

The novel is told from multiple characters points of view allowing the reader to experience many different opinions throughout the book. The settings are very interesting as it is obvious that there has been a vast amount of research gone into producing this novel because you truly feel like you have travelled into the past. The settings vary from harsh deserts to treacherous mountain ranges. The main character Will is a friendly and joyful teenager but also has an appetite for adventure which leads him on many dangerous quests.

The novel is one of my favourites due to the constant action and the detailed time period. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has read the previous books and enjoys an exciting adventure.

  1. Great blog Bec! The beginning rhetorical question captivated me. Mentioning how the novel is told from different views intrigued me. This sounds like an action packed read!
