Megan by Mary Hooper

15 and pregnant, that’s not good!

Megan by Mary Hooper is a story of a 15 year old girl, who is faced with the difficulties of being a teenager. Megan lives with her mum and sister, Ellie in a small flat, half a mile away from town. Clare, Megan’s best friends also lives there which is very convenient. Clare and Megan have big plans for when they finish school, until they discover that Megan’s pregnant. Megan is then confronted with enormous obstacle. When Clare decides to tell a bunch of girls about Megan, it is not long until the whole school finds out. Megan’s mother is very disappointed in Megan and can’t deal with it so, she sends her away to live with her aunty. She attends a school for young pregnant women. This book takes you on a wild rollercoaster, but will Megan keep the baby or give it up for adoption like everyone is telling her too?

The vocabulary in the novel is quite simplistic which makes for an easy read. This book is the perfect length and keeps your attention for the whole time. The adventures that Megan faces are very realistic and believable to today’s society. It’s a definite page turner and I would recommend it to any teenage girl.
