Bend it like Beckham- Narinder Dhami

Muddy Grass and Roaring Crowd!
Have you done something behind your parents back?
Were you busted?

Bend it like Beckham by Narinder Dhami is about a young woman named Jesminder Bhamra. Her parents raised her to be a lovely kind Indian girl. Although Jess thought different. She wanted to strap on her studs, run around in muddy grass and hear the screaming crowd around her chanting her name. She wanted to be as famous and successful as her idol David Beckham. Much to her luck a manager offered her a position on the local women's soccer team.

How is she going to play soccer and keep her parents happy at the same time?

I didn’t feel so keen about Jess playing soccer behind her parents back but I have to say I would do exactly the same thing. If you have a passion for something as strong as she does for soccer you go to unbelievable heights for it. Jess was a mysterious character and you never could expect what was coming next. Jess' appearance was quite pretty. When she thought about something she stuck up for it, for example she absolutely loved soccer so she felt the need to play. She is a very caring and passionate girl.

For most of the novel Jess was on the soccer pitch and spend hardly anytime at her house.

The theme of the novel "Do what you have strong beliefs for, and follow your dreams as anything is possible if you believe in yourself." I believe Jess was a lovely girl and had the right to follow her dreams as your parents should support you, not disagree with your dreams.

It’s your life, so live it!
